TOO MUCH TWEETS

I admit that after a friend of mine talked me into starting and maintaining a companion Twitter account to this blog, I've lost my balance.

Tweets are too easy to do, especially compared to a blog.  (The latter takes more effort, not to mention finesse.)  They are good, admittedly, for those little blurps I want to do now and again, but they are the lazy way out.  I post a Tweet and suddenly I feel good all over.

I must maintain focus.  As Grandpa Smight used to tell me, "focus before you shoot".  Sage advice.

My lack-of-focus appears here...

TIME MANAGEMENT

As heard on the radio minutes ago: "We are winding down the last day of January."

I keep myself pretty busy: looking for more work/contracts; researching; writing; developing projects which may or may not see fruition; watching carefully-selected video material; and some sleep.

Time flies.

I read this afternoon that activity promotes more activity.  I would agree.  When I had a regular shift to do at a regular job, I also seemed to get an awful lot done; including posting regularly to this blog.  (One job I had often involved working six days a week, and I managed to write a small pile of scripts; plus produce a couple of television pilots [involving all the production issues that go with them]).

My point?  Gotta keep busy, and maintain a schedule.  I'll leave staring-out-the-window to my cat.

BEST OF BARRY - "AT THE BLOOR CINEMA" - ORIGINAL POSTING: DECEMBER 11, 2007

With renovations well under way at the great Bloor Cinema here in Toronto, I thought it time to provide a fresh link to a bit of mine on that movie house from four years ago.  I walked by the building a few days ago and just happened to look inside the open temporary construction door:  The view took my eyes right down to the far wall (where the movie screen normally would be).  Wow.  They've ripped 'er right down to the studs, by the looks of things. Impressive work.

The piece of Bloor Cinema...

JOHN DOYLE'S STOOPID THINGS ABOUT THE TV RACKET

John Doyle, uber 'television' columnist of the Globe and Mail newspaper, is often humorous when he writes anything about television -- specific shows, or the people involved; in front or behind the camera.

Last week, while I was eating his food, a friend of mine asked me if I had read John Doyle's piece in "today's Globe".  I told him I had not, but he did a good enough sales job; besides, I like Mr. Doyle's often savage diatribes on the frequent idiocy of anything boob-tube.

Get a load of this, the article in question.  Doyle was at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, California.  And he could not resist conjuring up with -- in his sleep, I'm sure -- 10 stoopid things about the tv racket.  Enjoy...
