I read a few years ago that the Cestus set was originally built for "Beau Geste" (probably the 1966 version, which would make sense).
Of course, there was a lot of redressing. And a lot of planted powder charges for Bill Shatner to run around as they were fired off (which damaged his hearing).

I never noticed when watching, but those walls have battlements and a firing step. What were the Federation colonists expecting? "Khartoum"?!
